#now when he has to officially meet with Urbosa he’s just allowed in Town

Related to my silliness in the tags of this post today in which I said Kohga “did drag as Urbosa” during AoC timeline, I wanted to share a small headcanon that “my” Kohga does have a couple of go-to female disguises he uses sometimes to get around in Gerudo territory.
Most of the time when the Clan wants or needs intel (or to steal stuff) straight from Gerudo Town, they send in women to get it. But occasionally (while he was Heir and now as Master), Kohga’s wanted to get in there or into other Gerudo settlements* himself. Maybe to knock back some noble pursuits, maybe for the thrill and amusement of getting oh so close to Urbosa (or before that, ‘bosa’s mother) without her being the wiser…. And y’know maybe for work purposes. Or all those things at once.
The disguises are achieved mostly through magic like any other Yiga disguise but part through the more practical effects of adding padding to the chest in case anybody bumps into it and actually learning to move and speak in non-Kohga ways. Koh’s also an excellent vocal mimic (he got Urbosa just right after all) and does have different voices associated with these Looks. PS he knows how to actually do makeup too, and how to make his disguise look fashionable clothing-wise.
Anyway one of Koh’s ladysonas is a Gerudo named Onah, which he thinks is funny (it sounds like “onna” which just means “woman in old Yiga/Sheikah dialect**). She’s tall and full-figured and has the usual red hair in a high but short ponytail. Kohga knows that the best way to walk in spiky gold heels in the desert sands is to float slightly via magic and pretend, haha. Onah is pretty much meant to blend into the crowd among Gerudo but her backstory is that she was born in a remote desert village, lost her Hylian husband young and will never love again, and is just in town (whichever town) to pick up supplies and learn of current events. This is a Business disguise, although sometimes Onah might sit down for a bite to eat or a cocktail.
Kohga’s other persona, that he uses more sparingly but has more fun with in Gerudo Town, is a Hylian named Kohkoh. She has black coily hair (just like his own) that he’ll style in various cute ways, brown skin, big brown eyes, lovely pouty lips, same body type as him but with a breast augmentation, yep. She’s a stunner.
Kohkoh was created when Kohga was much younger and his rowdy friend group all wanted to try getting into Town. Some Gerudo girls around the same age befriended this funny, boisterous Hylian vai who was really bad at the game of chance going on at the canteen right up until she surprisingly won big, and Kohkoh’s been going back occasionally (like, with plausible frequency for a non-Gerudo) to hang out ever since. Kohga’s aged her like a Hylian would age, over that time, so at 50+ she’s now got some gray streaks and lines on her face, but she’s still down to party and trade gossip and give advice to the younger vai.
A running theme was “her” search for her “fated voe,” which the Gerudo ladies she met always encouraged her on while many of them eventually found husbands, took on jobs, and started families. Poor Kohkoh, every time she came back to Town, she had another sob story about some voe (or sometimes vai) who broke her heart. Aaaaand also she’s always here to go “oh I can’t believe I won again!” and hear about the town’s latest woes and Urbosa’s goals and plans etc etc and if some jewelry or other goods go missing from some shop or another around the same time noooobody would ever suspect big adorable bouncy Kohkoh who calls everyone sweetheart and has known you since you were all in your 20s…
Kohga doesn’t think of himself as anything but a man, but he is pretty dang good at acting. The fact that even though the new post-Calamity political situation has thrown the Gerudo and Yiga openly together for various projects, nobody suspects Kohkoh of being anyone other than who she says she is, is a strong testament to that.
PS Kohkoh did recently get to announce she found her voe. And there was much toasting. <3
*In line with my general headcanon that the Wilds era map is “bigger and fuller in ‘real life,’” the Gerudo have other towns, villages, and outposts across the desert. Two of the other larger towns are presided over by Urbosa’s younger sisters. Riju is descended from the middle sis, Suburi, who in BotW timeline took over leadership of the Gerudo after Urbosa’s death. I’m getting off track oh my god!!
**Japanese. It’s just Japanese. The Yiga are Japanese-culture-influenced and particularly kabuki theater-influenced and onnagata are male actors who play female roles. That’s it that’s the joke.
#yiga clan#master kohga#age of calamity#legend of zelda#kidk headcanons#KidK says stuff#now when he has to officially meet with Urbosa he’s just allowed in Town#all the male champions are allowed too#but if he wants to bring any other yiga they have to be vai#Sooga’s not allowed lol#Kohkoh like ‘I have a boyfriend but he doesn’t go to this school so you can’t meet him’ but it’s just Gerudo culture

𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤'𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫.
I feel as though, upon losing his memories, while a lot of his feelings still hold true, he’s a bit more . . talkative, compared to how he used to be. expressive. just a bit. but only because he had forgotten all that burdened him before. and even being told what his path is, and who he used to be, it sits very strangely with him. i feel like as he recollects his memories, and the life he once lived resurfaces back to him, he goes back to being more silent, kept to himself. there’s a lot that burdens his soul. even more so now that he struggles with amnesia.
as said by revali,
"The princess came to the village on official business, along with her shadow, that insufferable knight. I tried to talk to him while the princess met with the elder, but he was his usual quiet self. Why do people like him so? I also gave him the privilege of seeing me perform Revali's Gale. Nothing. No reaction at all to my impressive feat. I showed it to him even knowing there was a chance of failure, since it's still so new. He must truly be slow-witted. I tried to provoke him into facing me, but to no avail. It's like talking to a stone. Our interactions were a waste of time, so I flew off to find solace with Medoh. What's wrong with that guy?"
as said by mipha,
"Link came to visit the domain. It feels like forever since he was here last. He no longer resembles the child I first met. He is now an accomplished knight and keeper of the sword that seals the darkness. I am so proud. However... He hardly speaks anymore, and smiles even more rarely. He is still the kind soul I knew, but something has changed. I asked him if something had happened, if something was wrong. He merely shook his head. Perhaps it is his newly acquired height, but I feel he is ever looking past me, into the distance beyond... [...] Link came to visit me. It had been ages. I told him the Lynel of Ploymus Mountain has been terrorizing everyone lately. When I said that, he started walking toward the mountain, without a word. Spellbound, I followed him there. When we were almost there, he told me to turn back. He insisted he would be fine on his own.”
as said by urbosa,
"Link requested to meet with me today. He tells me Zelda exploited our law that restricts men from entering town to slip away from him. I told him of a trick that would allow him entrance, and he was able to get in. By then, however, Zelda was long gone. I promised to let him know if I saw her, so he reluctantly returned home. In a similar yet distinct way, Link seems to have trouble expressing himself.”
as said by daruk,
"That little Hylian from before is named Link. He's got a respectable appetite. Loves to eat meat, fruit, vegetables... all sorts of things a decent person wouldn't dream of eating. Link will cook up and eat just about anything. I offered him some Grade A rock roast to help refine his palette. I asked him how it tasted. He liked it so much, he was speechless. I knew Hylians could eat rocks too. Eating isn't the only thing Link and I have in common. The little guy is also incredibly strong! He said sometimes when he focuses, it feels like time slows down. Heh! I really like that guy. He's the type of guy you can trust to have your back and also have a nice hearty meal with. Yeah! That settles it! From now on, Link is an official brother. [...] I hear the little guy finally opened up about his troubles to the princess while they were shovelin' food. Surprisingly, she opened up right back. Said somethin' princessy like, "I guess we're the same, you and I." Hmm... Sounds heavy.”
and, as said by zelda,
“And still, not a word passes his lips. I never know what he's thinking! It makes my imagination run wild, guessing at what he is thinking but will not say. What does the boy chosen by the sword that seals the darkness think of me? Will I ever truly know? Then, I suppose it's simple. A daughter of Hyrule's royal family yet unable to use sealing magic... He must despise me. [...] I was feeling depressed, and I had told him repeatedly not to accompany me. But he did anyway, as he always does, and so I yelled at him without restraint. He seemed confused by my anger. [...] When I finally got around to asking why he's so quiet all the time, I could tell it was difficult for him to say. But he did. With so much at stake, and so many eyes upon him, he feels it necessary to stay strong and to silently bear any burden. A feeling I know all too well... For him, it has caused him to stop outwardly expressing his thoughts and feelings. I always believed him to be simply a gifted person who had never faced a day of hardship. How wrong I was...”
link has difficulty expressing himself, his emotions, thoughts, etc. while he still speaks, it’s seldom heard. even at the face of some, he says nothing. through time and trust, he'd speak. never too much, but just enough.
link is kind, selfless, puts others far before him. he’s noble and courageous. had it not been for the tribulations he has endured, he might even have been someone you’d call a textbook hero. amiable and loud! but nay.
however, as he reawakens, he’s more sociable.
in the fresh beginnings, the child he used to be, so lively and curious, wakes up within him after those 100 years. after the fall of ganon, he opens up a bit more, but he’ll never be that same child who’d yammer and be animated with life.
#— ✧ ﹤𝐨𝐨𝐜. meta.﹥#this originally wasnt gonna be a hc post i was just like. running my mouth as i do. but#then it. then i got carried away. so :)#GIHUDNFMD#he just has really bad coping#I HAVE MORE TO SAY BUT I ALSO HAVE WORK SO!

urbosa’s diary -- transcribed
urbosa’s diary, found right in riju’s room on the arm of her sofa.
Entry #1
My dear friend from afar came to visit Gerudo Town today. It is always a pleasure to see the queen of Hyrule.
She described her reason for coming as urgent. She wished for me to meet her newborn child. Her sweet daughter's name is Zelda. She has her mother's smile. I cannot help but cherish her already.
I told her that Zelda is sure to grow up into a dignified and beautiful queen, just like her mother. My friend thanked me, but said that looks are fleeting, and instead she wishes for Zelda to be blessed with true happiness. The way she gazes upon her daughter...her little bird, as she calls her...I have never seen such unconditional love.
Entry #2
It has been a long while since we laid my dear friend, the queen, to rest. I only now have the will to write again.
It was so sudden. I still can't believe she is gone. All of my sweet memories of her keep running through my mind. Even now, I can hardly keep the tears at bay.
Young Zelda kept her head high as she said her final good-bye to her mother at the funeral. She carried herself as a true princess, but I can sense the deep grief she is hiding within. I worry for her...
Entry #3
I made a voyage to visit Hyrule. After speaking with the king, I saw Zelda for the first time in a year. In truth, it was my concern for her that brought me there.
The king allowed me to keep her company as she went to the spring for her training. There, Zelda prayed and prayed in the spring's icy waters until the sun set. I told her many times to stop, but she wouldn't listen. I eventually had to drag her out of the water. Zelda gazed at me for the longest time with heartbreaking vulnerability. Eventually, in a tiny voice, she told me of the pressure and panic she feels at not being able to fulfill her sacred duty. She whispered over and over, "Why can I not do as the royal daughters of the past have done? What is wrong with me?"
All I could do was hold her close and listen... I pray that it is enough.
Entry #4
Emissaries from Hyrule came to see me today. They informed me that I have been chosen to pilot the Divine Beast.
My people are uneasy about it. They tell me such a dangerous task is not fitting for the chief. I understand their fear. However, I intend to accept this task. Calamity Ganon's resurrection does not only threaten Hyrule, but the whole world. I refuse to sit idly by. Ganon is also closely associated with the Gerudo...an association I deeply resent.
I believe Zelda will be here soon to receive my official answer. I am excited to see her, as always.
Entry #5
I attended the inauguration ceremony alongside the other Champions whom I share a fate with. Zelda, Revali, Mipha, and Link are so young. They are Hyrule's future. Daruk and I hope to help them see that future.
However, one thing did trouble me. Zelda was...uncharacteristically cold toward Link. I can imagine why. I hear Link has been assigned as Zelda's guardian knight. I hope they find a way to get along.
Entry #6
Link requested to meet with me today.
He tells me Zelda exploited our law that restricts men from entering town to slip away from him. I told him of a trick that would allow him entrance, and he was able to get it. By then, however, Zelda was long gone. I promised to let him know if I saw her, so he reluctantly returned home.
In a similar yet distinct way, Link seems to have trouble expressing himself. Perhaps the two can help each other... That is, if she ever gives him the chance.
Entry #7
Today I accompanied Zelda as she went to research Naboris. When the sun set, the poor, exhausted girl drifted to sleep. I sent word to Link, who showed up at Noboris faster than I expected.
Although it is none of my business, I felt the least I could do to bridge their gap was to share some things about Zelda. The rest is up to them.
Entry #8
I am so happy to say that Zelda smiles much more often lately. It seems she and Link have finally learned to get along. I hope this will have a positive effect on her training. However...I am concerned we may be running out of time. Whenever I hear of monster attacks or other unusual events plaguing the kingdom, my concern grows.
All I can do is pray that Zelda...my little bird...has enough time. I do not pray to the goddesses, but to her mother. My dearest friend... How I miss her.
